Your Dream is our Dream, so let us color it

I would like to present myself and my NGO for you, in order to encourage the possibility of future co-operation with your organization.
My name is Ms. Nagla Maher, I am coordinator for EVS youth programmes, live and work in Cairo- Egypt , in the region of MENA. I am founder and member of Assiut Human Rights and Youth Development Association in Cairo – Egypt .
Though we are a newly established association, we have long terms of experience in the fields of EVS programmes, art production, cultural exchange and development, childcare, anti-racism movements, intercultural exchange, contact making seminars, serving the local surrounding community and Gender empowerment.
It would be my pleasure to co-operate with you anytime in any of our working fields or to get the possibility to attend any of you events or contact making seminars to enrich our mutual experiences.
Below there is more information about our activities:
Assiut Youth Association is a local NGO, having its headquarters in
Cairo. It was the notion of a group of young people entitled as "Friends
of the Forum", who assisted in preparing and organizing the International forum for Population and Development (ICPD) that took place in Cairo-1994 to found this association. AYA strongly believes in the importance of utilizing youth in serving their communities through encouraging them to undertake voluntary actions. Through its work, AYA accumulated a wide range of experience and innovations in various fields, such as research, advocacy,
training, facilitation and technical assistance. The vision of AYA covers a wide range of issues including: women and children, volunteerism, health, information and international communication, environment, education, anti drugs activities, rural-urban immigration and training. Through all these fields the organization attempts to serve youth and encourage their participation in building their society.
Through its engagement in different projects, AYA collaborated with several partners and various international donors, such as UNFPA and
CEDPA and governmental institutions, such as the Social Fund for Development, the Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Youth and many European NGOs and the Higher Council for Youth and Sports.
Over the last period, AYA gained experience through its
involvement in various initiatives and projects, such as conducting a baseline study for the "Youth leadership project" in four Governorates ( Cairo , El-Minia, Beni-Sweif and El-Fayoum). The study entailed choosing a sample of youth (around 500 university students) and assessing their needs and aspirations before and after graduation. Also in Beni-Sweif, the association conducted a research aiming to assess and evaluate the potentials and capabilities of youth regarding volunteer work and civil society efforts, with particular emphasis on reproductive health issues.
By time, the association expanded its activities and target beneficiaries either from youth or other NGOs. The number of youth who were keen to join the organization has been increasing day by day. Currently members of AYA reach 30 from both sexes. A main characteristic of those members is that they come from different social, academic and religious backgrounds and have different personalities and ideas. The association was also successful in expanding its activities in many Governorates in Egypt through establishing its own local offices in the Governorates of Alexandria, Beni Sweif and Minia, in addition to its central office in Cairo . At present, the association includes more than 10 well-experienced trainers; around 5 in Cairo and the other 5 distributed in the different other Governorates. The coming paragraphs would highlight some of the projects that were implemented through AYA over the last six years and
Which are regarded as successful stories that sounded in various national and international organizations.
(A) Youth to Youth Peer Education Program
The development and implementation of the youth to youth peer education program was regarded as one of the successful stories of YAPD that carried various important messages for the development of information and awareness sharing initiatives in Egypt now and in the future. The United
Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) took the role of funding youth to Youth program. The Center for
Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) acted as coordinating body in partnership with three Egyptian NGOs: the
Institute for Training and Research in Family Planning (ITRFP); Assiut
Youth Association (AYA), and the Egyptian Federation of Scouts and Girl Guides (EFSGG).
(B) Egyptian Volunteer Center
(EVC)
It has been the pleasure of AYA to work in conjunction with the Center
for Development Services (CDS) in adopting and implementing the initiative of establishing the Egyptian Volunteer Center (EVC); an initiative aimed at matching the skills and interests of individuals with the needs of various organizations and projects reaching out to the community. The vision of the EVC, located in AYA headquarters, is based on creating an Egyptian volunteer movement, through promoting the concept and spirit of volunteerism among all sectors of society, particularly youth, with the ultimate goal of supporting development initiatives in Egypt . The project was implemented in three Governorates of Egypt: Cairo , Alexandria and Menia, and it lasted for two years. It is worth mentioning that one of the aims of the project was to present EVC as a model for an applicable volunteer center to be replicated in Egypt and the Arab world.
I would like also to let you know about my personal target. I know from my experience in working with young people how it is so important in the building of the personality of the young people to let them know a bout the other ,to deal with different ideas ,different cultural , different ways in life, different believes and the most important
at the end to accept it all so the result will be at the end of this international communication that I will gain for my young people more awareness .more confidence, more respect to the other, more ability to accept the difference , more flexibility, more love to the other and believe that all the people are the same from inside . I know that because I have been try it before for me and I want to give that chance to the young people in my society to make them more adult.
What I personally believe in, is that one seriously important point in the sector of social work is the connection of people from different backgrounds, ages, believes and ways of life. Our work is it to build bridges between them and to show them how important each individual and each opinion is. Through this they will learn the importance of peace, human awareness and understanding and equality and realize that nobody is better or worse than the other. I am feeling all of it also from my previous experience as a volunteer in my EVS in Greece .
I made the experience that especially youngsters from Euro-Med countries have little self confidence and need trust from other people to develop the whole potentials of their personalities. I consider that giving them more opportunities to be involved in international youth and peace work would make them more and more open-minded, aware, and self-confident. It would be meaningful to offer them more possibilities to make international experiences by living and working together for a short or longer period of time. With your cooperation in the frame of the Youth Programme you could help us to carry out our ideas and values.

I like to say lets dance together to gain a lot of young people from all over the world in order to establish more love to each other.
So it would be my pleasure to cooperate with your organization in the EVS

I hope I was able to give you some useful information and if you need more details about me or my association or if you have any questions, please let me know and feel free to contact me. I would be glad to answer any questions you might have.

I hope to hear from you soon.
And thanks a lot
All my Best Regards
